Close-up of creamy strawberry and chipotle aioli, a sweet, smoky sauce made with strawberry jam, lime juice, mayo, and chipotle peppers.

This sauce is sweet from the bright strawberry jam, a little tangy from the lime juice, deliciously creamy from the mayo, and just the right amount of spicy and smoky from the chipotle peppers. It’s the perfect spread for any meal—breakfast, lunch, and of course, dinner! Plus, it’s quick and easy to make. This post is short and sweet - just like this recipe - hope you enjoy.

I mean, isn’t sauce what makes everything better?

Think about it—sandwiches, wraps, tacos, salads… there’s a reason sauces are added to so many dishes. Without them, they’d lack flavor, feel dry, and just wouldn’t be as enjoyable.

That’s why chipotle aioli has been a staple in our family for so long! We love a hint of spice in our food, so it pairs wonderfully with just about anything you can imagine.

This aioli version I created has a fun twist with the strawberry jam. The sweetness of the strawberries adds a tangy bite and bright, refreshing zest to the smoky, spicy flavors in the sauce. I love how the strawberries give the sauce the fruity note it needs to balance out the silkiness of the creamy mayo! I hope you love it and enjoy it on just about everything!

How to make this the best Chipotle Aioli

  • Use avocado mayo! The mayo is the base of this creamy, luscious sauce. By choosing  a healthier option with healthy monounsaturated fats and antioxidants, not only will it taste amazing, but it’ll also add some nutrients that you, your family, and anyone you share it with can benefit from. Plus, avocado mayo has the best buttery flavor—you’re going to love it in this recipe.

  • Use a reduced-sugar strawberry jam. I love Smucker's Reduced Sugar Strawberry Fruit Spread. It’s sweet enough without adding too much sugar to the sauce. The natural sweetness, combined with just a little sugar, balances out the spiciness from the chipotle peppers. It’s the perfect way to create that sweet-to-heat balance. And it’s a little healthier too!

  • Taste and adjust! I don’t give an exact amount for salt or pepper because it’s best to taste the sauce as you go to get the seasoning just right. After all, you’re the one eating it, so it should be customized to your taste. This goes for any sauce you make—taste as you go so you don’t make it too spicy, sweet, acidic, creamy, or salty. Blend, then adjust the flavor to create the perfect sauce for your next meal!

Ingredients:

  • Chipotle Peppers

  • Mayo

  • Strawberry Jam

  • Lime Juice

  • Garlic Powder

  • Salt & Pepper

Ingredients for strawberry and chipotle mayo, including strawberry jam, lime, mayonnaise, and chipotle peppers in adobo sauce.

How to Make this Strawberry & Chipotle Aioli

  1. In a small (personal) blender, place 1–2 chipotle peppers in adobo sauce from a can — 1 for a milder flavor, 2 for extra spice. Add 1 cup of your preferred mayo, ½ tablespoon lime juice, ½ teaspoon garlic powder, and a light pinch of salt and pepper.

  2. Blend thoroughly until smooth and creamy — everything should come together into a bright, smoky, and spicy sauce. 🌶️

  3. Taste test time! Adjust to your liking:

Too spicy? ➜ Add more mayo.

Want it sweeter? ➜ Mix in a little more strawberry jam. 🍓

Need more tang? ➜ Add an extra squeeze of lime juice. 🍋

  4. Once you’ve perfected your flavor, transfer the sauce to a refrigerator-safe container. Chill and enjoy on sandwiches, salads, tacos, wraps — or honestly, anything you want. 😉
